The year is 2008,
The current base set is 10th Edition
I speak today of a card not printed in 12 years: Swords to Plowshares
It's a little too good at one white mana. So my question is
What is a fair or correct mana cost for STP?

Let's see... I'm bored and someone posted a bunch of discussion questions, so I'll bite.
W is the correct cost. Otherwise, it's not worth printing. I still disagree with what wizards did to counterspell and I'd rather them just get creative like they did with Ancestral Recall.

Getting creative is fine.
I'd play swords for 2 mana, but the problem is that it's white. White doesn't get to do that to creatures very often. It's just not part of what it gets anymore, now that the colors are so much more defined. I don't think it will ever be reprinted at any cost, not without some serious other fiddling along with the mana cost.

Well from examples they have made recently I would have to say probably 1WW since you have unmake at WWW with a flat out remove from game and no life gain. So changing one symbol to colorless would probably be correct to compensate for the added life gain, though that would probably be too good still so there might be more limitations on what it can hit like last breath and hit creatures with a bigger power.

I like condemn as a creative replacement to swords.
