Hi, I'm a RPI senior, and over the summer my friends got me into MTG so here I am, looking to play with some fellow students and learn the ropes.
I have experience with card games in the past, but somehow MTG avoided me... until now.
So yeah, be gentle.
edit: My name is Dane, by the way.

Hey Dane, I'm Foghat and I'm the current president of the club. If you have any questions feel free to either PM menor just post here. We meet pretty much every day once school gets going and we play pretty much every format we can get a hold of. We'll post meetings here if you want to play, otherwise we'll be at the activity fair and gunslinging if you want to bring a deck and play.
Hope to see you around!

Check out Club Meetings posts and come over to where people are meeting at some point. It's always great to meet new players.

Yeah, I definitely look forward to playing some matches.
My friend back home has told me to ask you if the club has Friday Night Magic with a local vendor.

Actually, yes. There are many shops in the area with FNM. Most of us actually stY on campus where Zorro from Foam Brain runs weekly FNMs in the Union. But there are many options available!

I guess the standard questions are in order: What formats do you play? Are you more interested in casual or competitive Magic? What sort of decks do you have?

We have weekly FNM draft and there are people who travel to other places to play in other formats when they want to play other formats. We also are attempting to set up multiple other weekly events, basically anything people have interest in.
Despite having a lot of tournament players, we also love the casual. We'll have to introduce you to cube draft, type 4, and EDH, if you haven't tried them yet!
And yes, even accounting for my current time zone, it still makes no sense for me to be on the forum right now.

I prefer casual play, and I am familiar with the rules of EDH although I have never played it. I play standard, although most of my experience has been in 3 player free for alls and 2v2.
My first purchase was the New Phyrexia Artful Destruction starter pack which is a green white golem deck that I have tweaked a little.
I know that there are many sets already released but I am most interested in newer cards, from the Scars of Mirrodin and I look forward to the upcoming Innestrad block.
So yeah, I think that answers all the questions...
