Guys, I was just told by the cleaning staff that the people who were here two nights ago (in the big room across from Shelnutt) left the room a mess.
The Union staff is extremely patient and kind to us, so we really can't let this be a problem. PLEASE PICK UP ANY MESS AS YOU LEAVE, EVEN IF IT'S NOT YOURS. If you feel that it's not your responsibility, clean it up and post on the forums so we can ask people to keep better track of their mess.
I know that it was probably an accident, but please take steps to not let it happen again!
This is about the tenth or so time in two years I have seen a president of Magic Club make a post about leaving the room clean. I suppose I can see why the Union staff would be irritated about this though, considering that I was the only one who stayed behind today, September 12th, to clean up Room 3511 after club was over. The tables and chairs were in disarray, spread all over the room, there was trash strewn across several parts of the floor, and above all, one thing I noticed almost immediately that had just been ignored was a box of goldfish that probably the woman who cleans the rooms was generous enough to leave us. Do we really want a reputation as a club that treats generosity as garbage?
As some of you may know, I am the staff coordinator of Terra Cafe. My job is basically that of a maître d’. Despite the fact that Sodexo has perfectly experienced people who we could leave all our trash to deal with, we are careful to clean up both the kitchen and the dining area as a thanks to Sodexo for providing a convenient location and experienced assistance for us. There has never and probably never will be any problems at Terra Cafe with not having enough people or not caring enough to properly clean up. The same cannot be said for Magic Club.
If we are going to just continue on leaving the rooms a mess, it would not be out of the Union staff's rights to demand that we meet somewhere else. I certainly would agree with them. Probably many other members of club who have stayed behind to clean up, or people such as Zorro, whose store is left a mess by our events on a regular basis, would agree as well.
